Katharades beach is located 6 km east of the town of Ierapetra 40 km south of Agios Nicholas and is awarded with the blue flag.
Katharades is a large ( 1.2 km ) beach with thick sand and clear deep waters. Along the beach operating two large hotels which have organized the beach that are in front with chairs umbrellas, showers, beach volley and water sports. The remaining part of the beach is very little developed and if you like isolation certainly a part is waiting you wait for moments of relaxation even in August. Along the beach in the sides of the main road that connects Ierapetra to Makrigialos there are a few restaurants, gas station, mini-market, and room for rent.
