Koules of Aptera
The fortress Koules located 12km east of Chania, near the ruins of Ancient Aptera above the village of Kalami. The fortress Koules was built by the Turks after the Cretan Revolution of 1866, the fort was built to control the valley of Vamos, from which it passed over to Chania.
Along with Intzedin fortress controlled the port of Souda. It is a monument that must combine with Ancient Aptera.
