German Cemetery Crete

In the northern coast of Crete, about 20 km of the city centre of Chania and one kilometre from the village Maleme, is found the German Martial Cemetery.
In the cemetery that was inaugurated on 06 October 1974, rest 4.645 German soldiers. The cemetery is found on a hill side with view in Lefka Ori (White Mountains) and in the blue sea of Chania.
The plants that the visitor can see are meridian flowers, olive trees while the fences are from Spanish cane.
Entering in the courtyard you will find a report with all the historical incidents of the war and a visitors book.
On your way up through a small path between the olive trees and the meridian flowers, you will love the Cretan nature. At the end of the path is found an eight meters high Iron Cross and the graves of German Soldiers.
