Ai kir Gianis

Byzantine church of Ai kir Gianis (Zoodohos Pigi) is located 13 km southwest of Chania town on the road between two beautiful villages of Crete Alikianos and Koufos.
The church was built in the 12th century, probably in the ruins earlier church of 10th century. Around the temple excavated a sprawling cemetery with 80 graves with finds of clothing accessories, coins and ceramics. Inside there are samples of marble columns and capitals, and also some murals.
